What is the purpose of your role?
Execute the construction of muscle and fat bovine stem cell banks for use in downstream cultured meat production.
What are your key responsibilities?
Carry out isolation, purification and culture of bovine muscle and fat cells from various sources and at various scales, mostly employing 2D culture in tissue culture flasks.
Perform various cell and molecular biological assays and tests to confirm the safety and quality of cell banks.
Give feedback and contribute new ideas and suggestions related to the quality of cell banks and the processes used to establish them.
What else will you do?
Work according to Standardised Operating Procedures to establish, characterise and maintain master and working cell banks of muscle and fat stem cells.
Gain experience and expertise in a wide range of cell and molecular biology techniques, using these skills to perform analysis relevant for the quality and safety of cell banks.
Act as a key link between R&D scientists developing protocols, and the production team executing them at scale.
Document, analyse and present results in various formats and to various audiences.
Assist in the smooth day-to-day running of the laborator
What are we looking for?
Bachelor's degree or equivalent in a biological or biomedical subject, including prior laboratory experience (essential).
Experience with mammalian cell culture and aseptic technique (essential), although no specific knowledge of bovine, muscle or fat cell culture is required.
Prior experience working according to SOPs and protocols (essential), especially in a cleanroom or GMP environment (desirable).
Passionate about our mission, and excited about working in a commercial start-up environment.
A hardworking, organised and dedicated team-player.
Good verbal and written communication skills (minimum B2 level English).
Ability to commence soon (desirable).
Permission to work in the EU (desirable).
