We’re currently seeking an EH & S (Environment, Health, and Safety) Manager to join our extraordinary team.

Are you passionate about establishing a facility food safety plan?

Have you implemented best practices across the operations for food safety, personnel safety, and protection of plant assets, systems and equipment.?

Are you a domain expert of USDA cGMP practices?

Do you love creating a culture of safety on your teams?

Have you worked with hydrogen and/or have robust knowledge of PSM?

The Role:

The EHS Manager is responsible for the safe maintenance and operation of all plant processes for people and equipment. This role will establish, design and implement best practices across the operations for food safety, personnel safety, and protection of plant assets, systems and equipment..  This position will be located in the SF/Bay Area and requires candidates to live in commutable distance to our facilities. Relocation Considered.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Personnel Safety Plan:  Establish a facility safety plan that includes PPE requirements, LOTO, Confined Space Entry, PSM, and related safety procedures
  • Management of Change:  Establish MOC and eMOC system
  • Fire/Incident Plan:  Establish procedures for fire/incident alarming, facility evacuation, fire response, and fire prevention
  • Training:  Establish safety training plans for plant personnel.  Incorporate safety training into the hiring intake process.  Establish a contractor safety training program
  • Reporting:  Establish incident reporting system.  Provide regular reporting of incident metrics to Air Protein management
  • Permitting: Establish all facility operating permit requirements and maintain all permits by filing appropriate applications and seeking timely approvals from regulatory bodies.
  • Extensive knowledge of hazardous materials, gasses, liquids, etc., their properties and reactions

Qualifications:

  • 5-10 years of relevant experience with specific experience with establishing safety systems and practices for food or pharmaceutical plants
  • Understands the bioprocessing/fermentation industries.
  • Extensive knowledge of Cal/OSHA regulations and their applications
  • Extensive knowledge of USDA cGMP (Current Good Manufacturing Processes) practices, hazard identification, gap analysis, and sanitary processes
  • Extensive knowledge of hazardous materials, gasses, liquids, etc., their properties and reactions

Skills & Qualities:

  • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to act proactively to create exceptional experiences for internal and external audiences. Possess a customer first mentality with all stakeholders
  • Superlative communication skills, particularly the ability to communicate with tangible and lasting shaping of core values and standards
  • Professional experience in roles requiring both independent creativity and collaboration with multiple stakeholders
  • Understands the company’s objectives and takes appropriate measures to gain consensus and correct unsatisfactory performance and results
  • Demonstrate strong business and financial acumen with an understanding of the implications of new technology development processes
  • Understand the use of technology as a competitive differentiator

Salary Range: $123,250 - $166,750 USD Annual
